As Bungie revealed Destiny 2 Gameplay, there was a lot of questioned raised for PlayStation, Xbox & PC. Players are very keen to know whether Destiny 2 will run at 60FPS on PlayStation 4 Pro or not! Well, Luke Smith did confirmed that in a Q/A session with IGN saying:
“THE PS4 PRO IS SUPER-POWERFUL, BUT IT COULDN’T RUN OUR GAME AT 60”, HE ADDED. “OUR GAME’S THIS RICH PHYSICS SIMULATION, WITH COLLISION AND PLAYERS, NETWORKING ETC. IT WOULDN’T RUN – NOT ENOUGH HORSEPOWER THERE YET. But there’s tons of GPU power in the PS4 Pro and that’s why we’re doing 4K. It’s on the CPU side. Destiny simulation, we have more AI to shoot, more monsters in an environment with physically simulated vehicles and characters and projectiles … Then you add 5, 6, 7 other players in a public event. That is incredibly intensive for hardware – Mark Noseworthy added!
So, we have a confirmation that PS4 Pro will not run Destiny 2 at 60 FPS. But it will support 4K. Bungie did said that they cannot reveal anything for Xbox: Project Scorpio. And here’s why we think it’ll run at 30FPS as well:
- PS4 Pro: Eight Jaguar cores clocked at 2.1GHz
- Xbox Scorpio: Eight custom x86 cores clocked at 2.3GHz (making is 10% faster)
PlayStation 4 Pro has Jaguar cores in it. And it seems Xbox: Project Scorpio’s ‘Custom’ cores are also manufactured by ‘Jaguar’. But According to Digital Foundry, Project Scorpio cores will have extensive customization and optimization. So, it might still be possible.
As for PC, Bungie confirmed the PC will support uncapped frame rate/60FPS. And from a lot of sources at Destiny 2 Gameplay Premiere confirmed that there is a significant difference if we compare the PC and the Console versions of Destiny 2.
There is no official news for Xbox Scorpio but we will hear about it in near future. What are your thoughts on this? Let us know in comments!
